FFEI ??After the MBO

Building the foundation????a href="http://printing-in-china.net/">printing services cheap printing solutions The sun is starting out shine, along with the weather becomes warmer because seasons begin to switch. The season’s changing is our signal a new duration of year is approaching. Likewise, in your industry, we have signals that this times are changing. Recently, many print buyers found their approach to Tysons Corner, VA to visit the Print Buyer’s Oasis. This conference was sponsored by printbuyersonline.com, a web site dedicated to the Print Production and Print Buyer Community. Next week, many Print Production and Print Buying Professionals will join print company management in New York City for that Print OnDemand Conference. The winds of change are blowing inside our industry which wind is termed Print On Demand (POD) and Variable Data Printing (VDP). This technology has begun to spread its wings and more and much more Print Production Professionals are seeking ways to bring their clients into this technology. What are we, the Print Production Community, looking for? Whether it really is POD or VDP, the questions will change. For POD, they tend to be cost and timing issues. We have a short run project, we need it quick, so how exactly does POD can compare to traditional offset. Each project is unique (shout it from the rooftops fellow Print Production Experts...let your management hear it: WE DO NOT BUY AN OFF-THE-SHELF COMMODITY! - but that is another article). From my discussions it could appear our questions on VDP deal with the knowledge and training forced to sell this new technology to your clients and creative staff. - What programs are necessary to set up our graphics documents? - What may be the timeframe for putting an application together? - What will be the limitations of your respective equipment? - How do I bring my clients, creative and account staff around speed with this technology? - Are there experts on the staff who will partner with my opportunity during presentations? - What other projects have you ever run and what pitfalls did you experience? - Do you have information, from projects you've got produced, regarding R.O.I., which your customers have shared? - Do you do have a contact name from your client who has run an application, and who I can call? Nothing earth-shattering there. Simple information from your vendor-partners is we require. Many of my conversations regarding VDP forced me to be aware how the Print Production Community is looking to get a new technology and VDP will be the flavor of the month. Don’t get me wrong here, I think this could be the future...I has not been trying to become flippant. What worries me, however, is always that, if we all do not obtain the proper information from our vendor-partners, we will probably be unable to progress and we may miss the parade. SO, the sales reps have to be extremely knowledgeable, or they need being accompanied with the firm’s resident expert when creating a sales call. If our sales rep is clueless, there is not any hope to the Print Production Community. Xerox and Heidelberg were well represented at Print Oasis and they also will probably be major players at OnDemand. A reminder to those companies... you'll be able to sell paper community every one of the equipment you've, in case the Print Production Community is unaware of the benefits for this technology, the machines will continue to sit down idle. Your showing at Print Oasis was obviously a strong marketing move and I applaud you for it. It was a good start, but you have to be more involved with the Print Production Community, using the advertising agencies, with all the consumers on this technology. Talk to us, not at us. Remember…PRINT PRODUCTION IS WHERE CREATIVE IDEAS BECOME REALITY! The more we communicate, the higher we will likely be at our careers. ,A Potential Money Maker for Small Printers--Interested?
